Climate change and cocoa in the Solomon Islands

Client: CSIRO | 2017

Using guidelines developed in an earlier project, experts at the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock worked with climate scientists from CSIRO to assess the risk to cocoa on the Guadalcanal Plain under a changing climate.

We worked with CSIRO and the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service to produce a series of communication products for a case study to demonstrate the application of the Developing climate change information for the Pacific guidelines. The case study assessed future climate risk for cocoa plantations on the Guadalcanal Plain.

We prepared a report for the stakeholder workshop and facilitated a workshop session on communication. We also drafted, edited and produced the case study report, fact sheet and poster that were the key communication products from the case study.

The communication products are available on the Pacific Climate Change Science website.
